Business Intelligence Data Scientist
Job Description:
- Analyze large and complex datasets from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations
- Translate data findings into actionable insights and recommendations
- Develop, test, and deploy predictive and prescriptive models and scenario forecasting using machine learning and statistical techniques
- Continuously evaluate and improve model performance
- Create data visualizations and dashboards for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Work with finance, actuarial and underwriting, membership, marketing and customer experience, data warehouse and IT, health analytics, and human resources teams
- Understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions
- Present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely
- Maintain thorough and current documentation on data sources, preparation processes, mathematical models, dashboards, and business intelligence activities
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security
- Develop and implement data collection, cleaning, and preparation processes
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies
- Explore and implement new methodologies to enhance data analysis capabilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field required
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or related roles required
- Experience with and knowledge of the healthcare delivery system and health insurance industry preferred
- Master's degree or higher preferred
- Proficiency in Python or R
- Experience with SQL and pandas
- Understanding of data warehouse structures, data extraction tools, analytics software and methods, and data modeling
- Experience with big data and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Ability to identify, manage, merge, and ensure consistency of large datasets
- Ability to build statistical models and interpret model shortcomings
- Familiarity with Tableau or Power BI
- Experience creating accessible, insightful, compelling, and branded data visualizations
- Ability to apply, validate, and interpret results in machine learning contexts
- Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills
- Ability to make decisions using independent judgment and creativity
- Ability to work collaboratively with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude
- Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment
