This job can be described as:

At Chesterton, we have a laser focus on our customers. The Component Picker/Packer supports our customers by correctly picking components used in our mechanical seal assemblies and then packaging the completed seal assemblies for our customers.

Job Model: On-Site

All fully remote positions have no regular expected onsite scheduled days. Fully remote employees may be required to come onsite due to business needs.

Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

A typical day at work would include:

  • Consults Bill of Material lists and correctly determines parts needed to pick for seal assemblies or Spare Part Kits.
  • Packs completed assembly orders and double checks order accuracy using material lists.
  • Retrieves component parts from inventory.
  • Performs simple quality control inspection to validate fit and function.
  • Identifies components that may be defective and isolates them for quality control rework as required.
  • Identifies and selects appropriate packaging for each assembled seal in accordance with the shop order.
  • Consults shop order and hand-writes date, lot number, and other designated information onto the packaging label.
  • Stores and retrieves materials as required.
  • Maintains clean and efficient assembly bench in work area.

Experience you need coming into this job:

  • Must be capable of reading and understanding instructions.
  • Must be capable of following a clearly written and described sequence of events.
  • Ability to work under pressure and work well with others.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision. Supervisory instructions given for special assignments.
  • Must be able to work according to written/verbal instructions and procedures which will ensure safety on the job and efficient, effective assembly process.

Employees assigned to certain tasks within this job may be required to participate in our Medical Surveillance Program. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis. Also requires: Repetitive elbow movements, rotating wrist movements, grasping and squeezing. Must be able to move, reach above the shoulders and bend freely. Must be able to adhere to any requirements of the job, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Exposure to high temperature and noise levels exists daily in the work environment.

Targeted pay range: $18.50/hr. - $19.00/hr. depending on experience

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($18.50/hr. - $19.00/hr. DOE) is Chesterton''s good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered "leveled" positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant's skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a "leveled" based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget. Please note, it is not the company''s usual practice to hire near or at the top of a pay range for any position that is available.
