Freelance Digital Asset Management Librarian (Remote)
Location: Remote (Operating EST Core Hours 8 AM - 5 PM ET) Schedule: Part-Time (~20 hours/week to start, tapering to ~10 hours/week, with potential spikes during peak content ingestion in Oct/Nov & Apr/May) Compensation Range: $35 - 42 per hour We are seeking a seasoned DAM Librarian to serve as the strategic owner and operational administrator of our enterprise Digital Asset Management system (Acquia DAM / Widen Collective).
This role is ideal for a senior library-science-minded professional who can "hit the ground running"-someone who excels at finding gaps, optimizing metadata schemas, mapping PIM-to-DAM fields, creating SOPs, and managing digital rights. You will ensure our assets are meticulously organized, easily discoverable, and governed according to industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Acquia DAM Administration & Optimization: Serve as the primary admin and SME for Acquia DAM (Widen Collective). Manage configurations, user permissions, workflows, and overall system health.
- Taxonomy & Metadata Architecture: Design, implement, and govern a scalable metadata schema, controlled vocabularies, and field mappings (including PIM-to-DAM integrations) to drastically improve findability and bulk tagging.
- Governance & Documentation: Author standard work instructions (SOPs), process workflows, and asset lifecycle policies (ingestion, version control, archiving).
- Rights Management: Tie usage rights, talent agreements, and expiration dates directly to DAM assets to ensure legal compliance.
- User Training & Support: Develop training materials and onboard internal/external users, providing first-tier support and driving platform adoption.
- Analytics & Integrations: Utilize Acquia Insights to monitor asset usage, and collaborate with teams to maintain integrations across CMS and Adobe Creative Cloud environments.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on DAM experience with a strong library science / optimization mindset.
- Proven expertise in Acquia DAM (Widen Collective)-must be able to jump directly into the instance without training on the platform.
- Proven track record of handling bulk imports, complex metadata schemas, and PIM-to-DAM mapping.
- Demonstrated ability to author clear standard operating procedures (SOPs) and system documentation.
- Solid understanding of Digital Rights Management (DRM) and copyright/talent agreements.
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Management, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Application & Portfolio Submission Requirements.
- To be considered, candidates must submit a portfolio featuring case studies that demonstrate the following:
- DAM Improvement: Before/after examples showing initial system challenges, implemented solutions, and measurable outcomes (findability, structure, adoption).
- Metadata & Structure: Samples of metadata models, PIM-to-DAM field mapping, large bulk-tagging initiatives, and system optimization.
- Process & Rights Management: Standard work instructions (SOPs), process documentation, and examples of integrating usage rights directly into DAM assets.
