Immigration Evaluation Report Writer | Remote Contract | $22-$25/hr
Immigration Evaluation Report Writer
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 15-25 hours per week, flexible and tied to case volume
Compensation: $22-$25 per hour
Position Overview
Roots Mental Health Group prepares psychological evaluations submitted in immigration legal proceedings, including T Visa, VAWA, U Visa, asylum, and extreme hardship matters. These reports are reviewed by attorneys, immigration officers, and government adjudicators, and the accuracy of every detail carries consequence for the individuals they concern.
The Report Writer converts licensed clinicians' session materials into complete, attorney-ready evaluation reports. The position requires sustained precision across lengthy documents, disciplined adherence to established templates, and sound judgment about what the clinical record does and does not support.
Evaluation sessions are conducted in Spanish and translated through internal systems. Spanish proficiency is not required.
Responsibilities
- Draft complete psychological evaluation reports from clinician session notes, transcripts, attorney declarations, and supporting case materials in accordance with standardized templates
- Review AI-assisted draft content against all source documents and correct discrepancies; the Report Writer is accountable for the final content of each report
- Verify all identifying information, including names, dates of birth, initials, ages, and chronology, against every available source prior to finalization
- Preserve clinician-entered scores, measures, diagnoses, and clinical conclusions exactly as documented
- Identify and escalate conflicts between source documents for clinician review rather than resolving them independently
- Complete a full quality-control review of each report before submitting it as final
- Incorporate editorial feedback consistently across subsequent assignments
- Meet case deadlines while managing multiple active reports
Core Competencies
Accuracy and thoroughness. The role requires reviewing full-length documents to identify duplicated sections, residual placeholders, transposed dates, formatting inconsistencies, and deviations from template specifications prior to submission.
Clinical and legal boundaries in written language. Evaluation reports document clinical findings; they do not advance legal arguments. The Report Writer must maintain proper attribution of client-reported information and avoid language that asserts legal conclusions or overstates the evidentiary record.
Critical review of AI-assisted drafts. Automated drafting tools may omit source information, introduce unsupported content, misplace material between sections, or alter clinical data. The Report Writer is expected to verify AI output against source documents systematically rather than treating it as final.
Template and standards compliance. Consistency across reports is essential to the attorneys and adjudicators who rely on them. The role calls for working within established formats rather than restructuring documents by preference.
Professional judgment and communication. Conflicting sources, ambiguous records, and questions of wording should be raised for clarification rather than resolved through assumption.
Required Qualifications
- Exceptional written English, including precision, clarity, and professional tone
- Demonstrated experience producing structured, detail-intensive documents, such as legal drafting, paralegal work, technical or academic writing, clinical documentation, or professional editing
- Documented accuracy with names, dates, figures, and identifying information
- Ability to follow detailed templates and written standards without deviation
- Capacity to work with sensitive and confidential material, including accounts of abuse, trafficking, and trauma
- Ability to manage concurrent assignments and meet established deadlines
- Demonstrated reliability working independently in a remote environment
- Must be based in the United States and authorized to work as an independent contractor
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in immigration law, legal writing, or paralegal practice
- Experience with psychological or forensic documentation
- Experience reviewing or quality-checking AI-generated content
- Familiarity with trauma-informed writing standards
Onboarding and Support
Orientation is provided on report structure, formatting, terminology, and quality-control standards. Prior immigration evaluation experience is not required. Templates, reference materials, and editorial feedback are provided, and clinicians are available for case-specific consultation.
Application Process
Qualified candidates should submit a resume and a professional writing sample demonstrating structured, detail-oriented work, such as a legal memorandum, report, or brief.
