[Remote] Operations Engineer Stf - E4
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Lockheed Martin is seeking an Operations Excellence Engineer for its MFC Lean Six Sigma organization. The role applies Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to solve complex cross-functional problems, improve processes, eliminate waste, track performance metrics, and communicate strategic recommendations to senior executives.
Responsibilities
- Embed within functional teams to assess, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities
- Deploy to suppliers and sites to eliminate waste and drive sustainable solutions
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools such as 6S, Standard Work, Visual Management, FMEA, and Control Charts to identify root causes
- Define KPIs, track metrics, and deliver quantified results including cost savings and cycle‑time reductions
- Prepare executive briefings and dashboards that translate technical findings into strategic business language
Skills
- - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline
- - 5+ years of progressive experience in process improvement, operations engineering, or consulting roles within a large, complex organization (defense,aerospace, manufacturing, or similar)
- - Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or higher) OR ability to apply Lean Six Sigma Black Belt skills and techniques with demonstrable project leadership and documented results (e.g., $MM savings, % reduction in lead time)
- - Proven track record of acting as a Sr. Advisor—designing problem‑solving approaches, facilitating workshops, and delivering actionable recommendations to senior executives
- - Ability to influence without direct authority; strong stakeholder management across diverse functional groups
- - Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance, therefore must be a US Citizen
- - Willingness to travel 80-100%
- Advanced degree preferred
- - Command‑and‑control of meeting rooms; adept at keeping teams focused, managing conflict, and driving consensus
- - Strong quantitative skills; proficiency with statistical software (Minitab, JMP) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- - Ability to craft clear, concise narratives for both technical and non‑technical audiences; polished written and verbal presentation skills
- - Understands how operational improvements tie to broader business objectives and defense acquisition cycles
- - Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments and shifting priorities; quick learner of new business domains
- - Team‑oriented mindset; builds strong relationships across engineering, program management, finance, and senior leadership
