Responsibilities

• Provide personalised companionship and emotional support, fostering engaging conversations and activities tailored to individual interests.

• Assist clients with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, whilst always maintaining dignity and promoting independence.

• Support with medication reminders and administration, strictly adhering to individual care plans and safety protocols.

• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light household duties to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment.

• Facilitate outings, appointments, and social engagements, promoting independence and community involvement.

• Accurately record and report on client well-being, any changes to their condition, and tasks completed, ensuring clear communication within the care team.

• Be available to cover visits at short notice during your agreed availability, contributing to the continuity and reliability of care for our clients.

Requirements

Essential:

• A genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults, coupled with an empathetic and patient approach.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle (essential for travelling between client homes).

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with clients and their families.

• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic ensuring consistent and dependable support.

• Availability to work alternative weekends and be flexible to cover visits at short notice during your contracted hours.

• The legal right to work in the UK.

• Willingness to complete comprehensive, paid induction training provided by Home Instead, regardless of prior experience.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a care-giving role (personal or professional) is advantageous but not essential, as full training is provided.

• An understanding of the principles of person-centred care and how to apply them.
