Job Overview

Play an integral role in improving dignity, independence, and quality of life for people in Leicester in ensuring the appropriate safeguards are in place. The Adult Social Care team works with individuals, families, carers and the wider community, supporting people in a strength-based approach.

As a valued member of the vibrant service, you’ll work closely with health colleagues, the voluntary sector and providers to maintain the health and wellbeing of people in Leicester. All roles are full‑time, 37 hours per week with core hours Monday–Thursday 8:30‑17:00 and Friday 8:30‑16:30.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the service in meeting the needs of residents, acting as the first contact point and helping people live as independently as possible.
  • Take an active part in the daily duty meeting and coordinate the calendar for meetings, reviews and other items under the guidance of the team leader.
  • Monitor and manage incoming emails, update and amend support plans and liaise directly with partners.
  • Work as part of a team of approximately 50 workers supporting adults with learning disabilities while maintaining their independence.
  • Co‑operate with internal partners (occupational therapy, reablement, housing) and external agencies (health boards, independent providers, voluntary sector).

What You’ll Need

  • Good understanding of English and maths, kindness, trustworthiness, honesty, friendliness and a good sense of humour.
  • Strong team player who can also work independently.
  • Excellent time‑keeping and computer literacy.
  • Willingness to learn the department’s database system and other task‑related tools.
  • Commitment to working in partnership with people and their carers to understand their needs, gathering details of queries over the phone in a professional manner.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, remaining calm in all situations.
  • Previous experience in a social‑care setting and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
