After-Hours Telephonic Triage Nurse (RN) – Remote / Pacific Time Zone
IMPORTANT: This is a remote after-hours position (Monday - Friday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., all day Saturday and Sunday Pacific Time) for candidates located in the PACIFIC TIME (PT) ZONE ONLY. Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted multistate RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and must be willing and eligible to obtain an Oregon RN license as a condition of employment.
Position Overview
Occupational Health Solutions is seeking a dependable and experienced After-Hours Telephonic Triage Nurse to support our occupational health clients outside of standard business hours.
This is a remote, on-call position with typically low call volume and extended periods of downtime between calls. However, nurses must remain available and responsive during assigned coverage periods and be prepared to use sound clinical judgment when calls are received.
This position may be a good fit for an experienced nurse seeking supplemental income and flexible, remote after-hours work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic triage and clinical guidance to employees experiencing work-related injuries or health concerns
- Assess symptoms and determine the appropriate level of care using established protocols
- Provide clear, calm, and professional communication during after-hours calls
- Document all interactions accurately and promptly
- Escalate urgent or complex cases as appropriate
- Remain available and responsive throughout assigned on-call coverage periods
Schedule & Work Environment
- 100% remote; no travel required
- Candidate must reside in the Pacific Time zone
- After-hours on-call coverage includes evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays
- Weekday coverage is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time
- Weekend and holiday coverage includes 24-hour on-call periods
- Call volume is typically low, with downtime between calls
Qualifications
- Current residence in the Pacific Time zone is required
- Active, unrestricted multistate RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) is required
- Must be willing and eligible to obtain and maintain an Oregon RN license
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience
- Occupational health, urgent care, emergency room, or triage experience strongly preferred
- Previous telephonic triage or nurse advice line experience preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable using electronic documentation systems
- Reliable phone and internet access appropriate for remote work
Compensation
$1,000 per week for assigned after-hours on-call coverage.
